Old School vs New School MLM Enrolling Strategies – Which Are You Using?

Posted in Network Marketing

Have you ever belonged to a Network Marketing program I’m sure you know the old school marketing techniques where you work your warm list (family and friends), make lists of everyone you know, leave drop cards everywhere, cold call people on a purchased list of leads, hold hotel meetings, leave flyers on every bulletin board you can find, approach everyone within 3 feet, etc, etc.

Did you get a warm welcoming reception to these techniques?  Sell a lot of products?  Get a bunch of new recruits?   No?  Well don’t feel alone, they don’t work for most other people either.  That’s why most people don’t succeed in the industry.

Each time I joined a new MLM company in the past, I was introduced to these and similar techniques.  While there were slight variations with each company or upline sponsor, the essence of each company’s marketing strategy involved some variation of these tactics.  Basically, it all boiled down to calling and bugging everyone I could think of and every new lead to see if they might be interested in an opportunity to make some extra money.

However, what they either didn’t tell me or at least played down, was the large amount of rejection I would have to face.  Approaching a disinterested, untargeted market not only resulted in a large amount of out right rejection, it also created some amount of hostility.

So my upline responded by recommending that I buy opportunity leads and call them.  If you call enough folks, a certain number will join.  It is just a matter of calling more leads if you want to sponsor more people, the story went.

But by following this guidance led only to more rejection, hung up phones, and some hostile confrontations from these supposedly opportunity seeking prospects.

The Marketer's Manifesto The Marketer's Manifesto

With nothing to show for all my efforts, I sunk into debt purchasing worthless opportunity leads.

I gave up for a while feeling that Network Marketing just would not work for me.  But then I discovered a easier and better way.  A way that in not taught by most MLM companies because it is not the “traditional way they have always done it.”

Instead of attempting to offer my program to everyone and anyone, I learned how to provide useful information to a targeted audience, build a relationship with them and have them ask me about how to join my team using attraction marketing techniques.

{So, if the old school Multi Level Marketing strategies are not working for you, I strongly suggest that you take a look at the new school attraction marketing methods and don’t be held back by obsolete marketing techniques, or at least marketing methods that aren’t working for you.}
